Cinq Mondes Spa Monaco
Evoking the “five worlds” that meet in one cocooning location, the Cinq Mondes spa in Monaco invites to be enveloped in a blissful pampering of the soul and body. Recently redesigned, the penetrating natural light now better highlights the relaxation area, by far the largest spa lounge in Monaco.
Cinq Mondes, headquartered in Paris, has a holistic spa and products concept. 100% natural, mostly organic, parabens and silicon free product line that was not tested on animals bred the signature treatments or “rituals” as they are more titled at the Cinq Mondes spas.
These spa rituals were inspired by the founders travels around the world in search for traditional healing, and body and face caressing, that were perfected by generations for centuries. From Indonesian facials, Chinese tao pressure point techniques, Japanese tub baths and shiatsu, Indian Ayurveda, North African Rhassoul scrubs and rubs, Swedish sports massage, to Brazilian toning wraps and Polynesian kneading with lomi-lomi. The five continents represent the wealth of human knowledge and a global desire to walk with an ease through the challenging years of life.
Wellness is approached holistically at the Cinq Mondes spas. While waiting for your ritual, the rejuvenating experience starts with visual comforting as the natural light crawls through the rooftop at the Monte-Carlo Bay hotel branch. The central glass dome of the spacious relaxation area draws you away from the street noise to the natural world. Burbling water and gentle music in the background improve focus and ready your mind for the upcoming treatment. As the Ottomans and Romans did, you can socialise in the common hammam or meditate in the more private dry sauna in the changing rooms, to relax and warm your muscles before any body work.
Depending on your chosen ritual, the therapist will use the Cinq Mondes products and blended exotic oils to pamper your skin. As the fragrant oil penetrates deep, releasing its aroma uniquely to each individual body, a light or firm stroke of a therapist slowly transfers you into a different universe. For a firm massage Eve is a heroine, Alexandra with her passion for reflexology has also a firm stroke, while Nicholas is best in shiatsu, and Malvina gives you a more subtle yet cocooning touch.
Whether you need to balance your energy with Ayurveda or the pressure of shiatsu, detox your indulged body through the Indian Udvartana, firm up a sagging skin with the Brazilian coffee wrap or simply relax during the Polynesian long stroke massage, you will be directed to the right therapist by the friendly team of well-trained receptionists.
You can extend the blissful experience up to four-days with special programs – slimming down or harmonising with a three-day Siam ritual. If your schedule does not allow such a luxury, just under three-hours the Royal Indonesian Lulur will reset your body and the mind.
After your drowsy body comforts itself once again in the relaxation area, a cup of tea from Palais des Thès (French tea company) will either elevate your mood – blended green tea; sooth on a cold day – Darjeeling or swoon through the rest of your day without the caffeine – the African rooibos. Two semi-private lounges are supplied with plenty of magazines in French, Italian, English and increasingly in Russian, reflecting on the city-state’s multi-ethnic makeup.
A bonus comes with purchasing Spa Club package. This lets you enjoy the large heated, half in and half outdoors swimming pool and another purely outside during the warm months. If you are motivated enough you can also pop into the hotel’s five star fitness room to get your blood moving again.
I have been returning to the spa at the Monte Carlo Bay hotel for years, the positively tuned attitude of the staff, the clean and mind-calming premises and the scope of the exotic treatments, all draw me to dialling the booking line each time upon returning from my globe trotting. It is always nice to be back home, and Cinque Mondes in Monaco brings my travel-worn body back to harmony.
